Acupuncture is a safe medical procedure with origins in China over 5000 years ago. The intent of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Acupuncture is to promote health, alleviate pain and restore balance to the body. Acupuncture uses fine sterile needles to stimulate specific acupoints located on the body. These acupoints often correspond to muscular trigger points and nerve bundles. Each acupoint has an affect on the bodies healing process via restoring qi flow, improving circulation, decreasing inflamation and potentially balancing hormones and boosting the immune system.

CM Acupuncture includes several modalities: acupuncture, tuina and shiatsu massage (which can be described as rhytmic acu-pressure plus gentle stretching), cupping, gua sha (a technique that uses a natural stone and oil) and moxibustion (a heat therapy).

The World Health Organization (WHO) acknowledges that acupuncture is a safe and effective treatment for many health conditions such as:

  • Sports injuries & chronic pain
  • Migraines & headaches
  • Stress & insomnia
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Anxiety & depression
  • Digestive disorders
  • Gynecological concerns – PMS, Infertility, Pregnancy, Menopause

Acupuncture can be administered by a licensed Naturopathic Doctor or a Registered Acupuncturist (RAC) who is a member of The College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists of Ontario.
